Why is Search Engine Optimization On The White Hat So Important?

May 29, 2010 · Posted in Optimization (SEO · Comment

Search Engine Optimization refers to the efforts made to make a website or blog more compatible with the results of search engines.

You want your project to be compatible with search engine algorithms to make it easy for people who have an interest in your topic to find your site or blog.

Being able to be found through “organic traffic” is important because you will get a great deal of web traffic and visitors without any cost to you.

There are many people utilizing various ploys that help them attract the attention of search engines, but some of these can result in having them ban your site, and then all your efforts will have been wasted. Thus, we suggest that you use “white hat” search engine optimization, which will ensure that you will keep the traffic obtained through organic searches for as long as you have your site or blog.

The prohibited techniques which can be found in numerous “make money online” courses will possibly help you attract some business on a short term basis, but will end up destroying your work in the long run.

Our recommendation for beginners is to buy a quality Search Engine Optimization eBook or book, to teach them about starting a business online. So, if in the future, you work with an SEO specialist, you will have learned to use a common language with which you’ll be able to communicate with them in a more efficient, professional manner.

Like I said before, SEO is the efforts made to make a website or blog more compatible with the results of search engines. You want your project to be compatible with search engine algorithms to make it easy for people who have an interest in your topic to find your site or blog.

Web traffic through Search engine optimization

January 23, 2010 · Posted in Optimization (SEO · Comment

Search engine Optimization is one of the finest ways to generate targeted Web traffic. The ultimate goal of Search Engine optimization is to get a web site to the first few pages of Search engines which generate a lot of search engine web traffic.

A lot of ways exist to achieve search engine optimization to get web traffic. The first thing among them that bothers the most is the use of keywords appropriately on the site. So, search engine optimization starts right from the website design. Using the highest priority keywords is the key tool in search engine optimization.

Google, in the past, considered keyword density as the tool for search engine optimization. Keyword density simply means placing the main keyword many number of times the content of the site for web traffic. This proved good for a period of time to provide good web traffic. The only disadvantage here is that, repeating the same keyword many times brings in duplicate content to the site and duplicate content is never good.

So, Google has made changes in this law. What Google defines as quality now is that content that not only contains the main keyword but also contains a few other related keywords that Google finds basing on an algorithm and awards traffic this way. Google named this as LSI relevancy.

Google has put in its generous effort to define the highest priority related keywords for any content of the site. The effort resulted Google Ad word tool. What we do here is, very simple. We just type in the main keyword for which we are targeting web traffic into the input box and a list comes up with all the related keywords. As you can imagine, this has made it easy to find the related keywords. The next step is to include maximum number of the related keyword in the content of the web site. It’s as simple as that.

Most of the people use this way.  Another way exists, but many ignore this. In the other way, we make a search of our main keyword in Google. We then find out the website ranked highest by Google for our keyword. We can then find out the keywords used in the highest ranked website. To do this, another part of Google Ad words tool is to be used.  This appears as “Instead of descriptive words or phrases you do it by web content”. This is pretty easy. We just need to type in the URL we got from the first website in the search engine results and in a few seconds a list appears with all the related contents. These are the related keyword that we need. The next steps are similar. We just use these related keywords in the site content. This makes the site search engine optimized in the eyes of Google. Hence our objective is accomplished.

SEO: Driving Traffic to your Website

January 21, 2010 · Posted in Optimization (SEO · Comment

Nowadays, a lot of businesses are using the internet to promote themselves and their brand. In fact, around half of small businesses in the UK have a website. This means that getting traffic is going to be very competitive. I will tell you here the best ways to outsmart your competitors and get a lot of traffic, which could then develop into clients/customers.

The first point would be to get high up on Google’s searches. Many people will tell you that they can get you to the top of Google in ‘under two days’. This means you will be paying for an advert, and still isn’t guaranteed to get you to the top, because many other companies in your industry may be doing this as well. A free way is to build up the content on your site. The more pages you have, the more important Google ranks your page. Google is the most popular website, accounting for 6% of all web traffic, and is the most popular search engine, so focus on this instead of ask or msn search.

If you build up content and pages on your site, make sure you include a few keywords in these pages that you think your targeted prospects will search for on a search engine. This is called search engine optimisation (SEO). Take note that the search engine takes more notice of keywords in your headers than in the content.

Another great way to direct traffic to your site is by links. You can arrange with other companies in your niche to exchange links, which means you have a link to their site on your page, and they have a link to your site on theirs. Be wary of this though, because many companies may bury your link deep in a page of links, and this is useless, because very few people will see it. So, when you do this, make sure you know where they will be placing your link.

You can also comment on blog posts, or forums, that are related to your industry. Offer an opinion on the post, and leave a link to your website at the bottom. Answering questions on Yahoo is a good way to get traffic as well; if you establish yourself as an expert in your field, and your answer is chosen as the best, a lot of people will see your answer, so make sure you leave a link to your website. If people see you as an expert in your industry, they are going to want to have a look at your site.

Also, make your own blog! This is probably the best way of establishing yourself as an expert, and if people like your content, they will subscribe to your blog. This means that you will get a loyal fan base that regards you as an expert in your industry, and they will tell their friends/colleagues about you. This is also a great way to promote your links, because if you have a good number of people subscribed to your post, a lot of people will see your link, and most probably click on it to see if you have any more blog content.

As I said in my previous post, how to create a quality website, you should have a blog on your website, but it also helps to have a blog elsewhere on the web, to direct traffic towards your site.

You may have already read some of my posts regarding Twitter and Facebook. These are traffic directors. Use these to, once again, establish yourself as an expert and post links to your site.

I mentioned earlier Google adverts. This is called pay per click (PPC) advertising. It is good to a certain extent, because you only pay for whoever clicks on the ad, hence the name. It also will increase your website traffic a fair amount. The only drawback to this, however, is that you have to pay for it.

So, if you want ‘quick-fix’ traffic at a cost, sign up for PPC and make the ad attention grabbing, don’t say something like ‘need a builder?’, say something more along the lines of ‘tired of builders who charge too much for a poor job? Not us! Click here!’

If however, you would prefer to build your online presence the old-fashioned way, use some of the ideas I mentioned above.
